| Andy Bloch on Full Tilt Poker Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
While playing poker on-line at FullTiltPoker.com I get asked the same questions over and over, so I've created this list of frequently asked questions. This page will be continuously updated.
Is that really you Andy? If you are playing on Full Tilt and you see this avatar with my name under it then yes, it is really me.
Can I ask you a question? You just did. Just ask your real question. But first, see if you can find the answer on this website or by searching the web using Google. And do try to be polite and wait until I've finished answering other questions. If I don't respond right away, it's probably because I'm busy playing multiple tables or distracted. It's ok to remind me and ask it again. |
Is there a bounty for knocking you out in a tournament at Full Tilt Poker?
Yes, if you knock me out of a regular multi-table tournament, you'll receive as a bounty the amount of the tournament buy-in, PLUS a T-shirt that reads "I busted Andy Bloch at Full Tilt Poker." If the pot is split, you'll split the cash amount and will each get a T-shirt. Similarly, you'll get a bounty if you knock out any of the 20+ other red pros. Some special tournaments have increased bounties on one or more pros. Support should automatically email you within 24 or 48 hours about the bounty to get your T-shirt size and shipping address. If you don't hear from them, email me. The T-shirt may take several weeks to arrive, but if you think it's been too long, feel free to email support for updates.
Bounties are not earned in private tournaments or Sit & Go tournaments. If you knock me out and don't qualify for a bounty but still want something to commemorate it, see below for getting an autograph.
Why would you play in this satellite if you already have a seat in the tournament? If you win a satellite after you have already registered for the tournament, you get cash for the seat.

Did you play in the WSOP in 2006? How did you do? Yes, I played (as did all the other Full Tilt pros). In the $10,000 buy in main event, I got knocked out late on day one, but I did well in the preliminary events, cashing 5 times for $1,119,860 total, including over $1 million for 2nd place in the $50,000 buy in HORSE event. Here's a transcript of a chat I had on Full Tilt Poker during the original ESPN broadcast of the HORSE final table.

Do you have any bracelets?
I have 0.93 bracelets.
It depends on what you mean by bracelets. If you mean regular WSOP wins, the answer is no. (But I did make it to heads up in the $50,000 HORSE and had my opponent Chip Reese all-in 4 times. 93% of the time, I'd win at least one of those and have the bracelet.)
I do have a WSOP Circuit ring, an Ultimate Poker Challenge bracelet, a Hall of Fame watch, a Hard Rock Hotel platinum record, several other tournament wins, two 3rd place WPT finishes, and 4 WSOP final tables. Outside of the Main Event, I've won more money in the WSOP than just about anyone else without a bracelet.

Was that you that I saw on Fox's The Casino? Yes. See the stories on my website. |
Andy, did you really get kicked out of that casino for counting cards in blackjack (i.e. was it staged)? Yes, I got kicked out. See AndyBloch.com |
Did you get my email, Andy? Probably, but I get lots of email. Please be more specific! |
Any other famous people on tonight? Do you know who [someone] is on Full Tilt Poker? If they are pros who are "friends" of or represent Full Tilt Poker, their words are in red type. There may be other famous people, but they may prefer to remain anonymous. I usually don't know who people are. |
Andy, where is [insert player name here] at? I don't know, try using the Find A Player feature (shortcut is ctrl-f). |
How long have you been playing poker? In casinos, about 15 years. I can't remember when I started playing with friends. Growing up, I used to play a lot of different card games. |
How did you get started as a professional poker player? Read my bio. Also, check out Bad Ass Andy by Michael Craig in the August, 2006 issue of Bluff Magazine. And, WikiPedia is a good source as usual.
|
What is the most you have won in a single night of poker (online or @ a casino)? Enough. My biggest tournament cash was over $1 million. |
Can I borrow/have $5? No, but you can try to win some money by playing one of the freerolls. Please read Full Tilt Poker's rules. Rule 4: "Begging" for money (real or play) at tables is forbidden and may result in the suspension or termination of the offender's account. If support sees you asking for money, they may disable your chat.

Where would the best place be to hang out in LV? The Wynn, Bellagio, Palms, and Red Rock are the casinos I frequent most, except during the WSOP, when I'll be there. Besides good games (poker and otherwise), those casinos all have great clubs.
|
Where can I play in tournaments with low buy-ins? All over Las Vegas and many other casino towns. Card Player and some other websites list daily tournaments. |
Andy, do you live in Las Vegas? Yes. |
|
Are you a Red Sox fan? Strangely, I am both a Boston and NY fan. |
How old are you? 37 |
Is it true that you have a law degree? Yes, I graduated from Harvard Law School. |
Do you currently practice law? I've never practiced, except when I'm defending myself. |
What did you major in for undergrad? I have an MS & a BS in Electrical Engineering from MIT. My MIT master's thesis was titled "Adding Massively Parallel Processing to a Dynamic RAM for Graphics Applications." If you understand that and you're interested, I can email you a copy. |
Wow, you must be smart. What did you get on your SATs? 1450, I think. 800 on the math. |
How many hours a week do you play poker? Between 10 and 60 hours, probably 25 on average. |
Which is more profitable, poker or blackjack? Poker now, used to be blackjack. |
Have you seen Rounders? Yes. |
What games and what limits do you play live? I don't play live a lot anymore, because I'm busy enough playing on-line and tournaments. I like to play a variety of games (I prefer mixed games like HORSE), and I used to play between the $100-$200 and $400-$800 level. It's good that I like to play a variety of games, because at the $100-200 level and up, many of the games are rotation games, where the game changes every 8 or 10 hands or every new dealer. The games that typically get played are Hold'em, Omaha (both high only and high-low), Stud, Stud high-low, and triple draw lowball. If I had to play just one game forever, I'd probably just quit playing poker. |
Can I see your avatars emotions? You can look at the files on your hard drive, probably in this directory:
C:/Program Files/Full Tilt Poker/Graphics/Table/Avatars/Pro/0. If you're viewing this on a computer with Full Tilt installed, my avatars should appear below:

Have you read Bringing Down the House? Are you in it?
Yes, I've read the book. No, I was not in it. As it says in the book, there were two MIT teams at the time, called the "Reptiles" and the "Amphibians." The book is about a few of the Reptiles. I was an Amphibian. |
What is your favorite poker book?
An old book called Winning with Game Theory, by Nesmith Ankeny. You may have to get it from the library because it's been out of print for years. Ankeny was an MIT professor, but it's not too theoretical. |
Can I have your autograph?
Sure! I usually ask people to make a contribution to charity. If you can, make a donation to any of the following or similar charities , then send me an email (autograph@andybloch.com). Please mention the charity you contributed to, and include your name and mailing address, and anything personal you'd like me to write. It may take me a few weeks to get around to it if I'm busy.

How do I get in to the 'Fish in a Barrel' Tourney on Full Tilt? What is the password? It's a tournament for members of WPTfan.com, a website I run. The password can be found there. |
What if my question isn't answered here?
Try using google. When I'm playing poker I'd appreciate it greatly if you'd use google before asking a question -- chances are you'll find the answer and then you can ask a more interesting question. |
